Follow your Passion....

Passion is an amazing thing. Passion for something can bring you a lot of joy!

Recently I found out that regardless of what I do, whether doing the PowerSession, speaking, raising my family or being a wife to Art. All these things I've just mentioned, I love doing. They have been and continue to be very rewarding for me! Each one has help mold me into the person I am today....but, the one thing I've been doing since the age of 14 professionally is MUSIC!!!

Singing
is my passion. Creating songs, singing live and on stage is my ultimate Passion. The form and style of music i love most is Jazz music. This is a deep passion of mine.

At this stage in the game of my life, I'm going full throttel in the music. It's the time an season to spread my wings and take flight high then I've ever gone before. During my season of being prepared by the Father, I've gained a greater appreciate for the music even more so now than before. Why?

For a season I had to place it on the back burner. I thought I was cool with it but placing music fourth or fifth on my list made me a very unhappy camper. I never realized the reason I felt a small void inside or off balance. I had set my music down and what I was suppose to be doing was still allowing the music to grow in the way God desired it to, not my way. My way kept making me hit a brick wall everytime and it was so frustrating for me. Because I was wonder," Why want this wall just move!".

There for while I was trying to control the gift instead of just letting it happen and enjoying the gift regardless what open doors came for it to be heard or not. Now that I realize the music is just that a gift that God has given me and it belongs to Him not me, I see the gift so much more clearer now and the importance of it all, and the responsibility that comes along with the gift. We all have been given gifts ( Passions) but we have to go into training to no how it is to be used and when it's to be used and with whom it's to be used with.

Having a passion for something is natural and great! As long as it's healthy and it doesn't hurt those around you but it brings goodness and edifies. In order to keep it in check regardless of what the Passion is we must allow God to guide and direct the gift, so it stays vibrate and on fire and on the right path that been designed just for YOU!!!!

Seek out your passion. Something healthy that gives back to the world and that's good for you and those around you. It makes life so divine!!! and Exciting!!!

Remember, Be your Best, Have your best and Give your Best to others!!

The Unexpected

This morning I received and email from my sister, Bobbie out of Nashville TN. It was not good new. Curtis Chapman's youngest daughter was stuck by their eldest son on yesterday in their drive way. The child was rushed to the hospital but they were unable keep her alive.
This morning after reading this news I got on my knees and began to pray for the family and the son who could so easily hold on to a lot of guilt through this tragic accident.

Minutes later I received a call from my husband telling me that our nephew who has been fighting cancer and doing well, was just admitted to the hospital and may have pneumonia. I began praying again and was lead to get in the PowerRoom and share before leaving to go see and pray with him

The earthquake in China, The cyclone in the far East. Thousand upon Thousands of life's gone..... and we must continue on.

We never know what our day will bring. We never know how to handle the unexpected events in our lives. The only one who knows the beginning from the end is The Father and with that knowledge we know that He loves us more than we could ever know. It breaks His heart to see us suffer.

All things do work together for good. He tells us this in His word. Sometimes that's a hard pill to swallow because we can't understand why things must happen has they do. We would just like a little more revelation on the matter. A little notice would help prepare us... But this is why we must keep our prayer lives in tact for the unexpected. Because it will knock on each of our front doors. Prayer is key to building your life on a solid foundation.

My challenge for you today is to ....Love your neighbors and family members today like there will be know tomorrow....Forgive those you've been unable to forgive. Jesus pardons us day in and day out, extend the same hand to others, Pray for those you normally would not think to pray for....God loves it when you stretch yourself in area's you've struggled with. Not just today but before you walk out of your house to start your day, Pray. Take time to talk to the creator of heaven and earth. He knows what you'll face that day before you even step on into it and can prepare you and guide your every step form 8 to 5 and beyond...

Most importantly just live your life to the fullest...reach for your dreams...dream the impossible... live today as though there would be know tomorrow.... Appreciate your blessings if you look hard enough you should find one...YOU'RE BREATHING!!

We need each other

None of us are exempt from this. In order to reach our fullest potential and to accomplish the desires and purpose within our hearts, it takes a village of friends, associates, family members even giving and receiving help from our enemies or those we are not that fond of.

What made me realize the importance of creating relationships and networking and extending myself to others was my recent speaking/singing engagement for Women in Christian Media in Nashville at the Life Way headquarters. This org. is all about connecting with others in the field of Christian Media and giving each other a hand up not a push down. The ministry is a place where each one there builds the other up and supports the other, whether with encouraging words, prayers a hug or maybe even through a resources that the other may be in need of. Unconditional love is the banner that is over this ministry

Our ministries, work or job goes so much more deeper than most of us can see. If we put others before us and focus in on not just what we desire and want, but the desires and dreams of others instead of putting ourselves first the world would be a much better place. We would be taking our eyes off of want we need and on " How can I give another a help up".

I've been blessed to have acts of random kindness throughout my life and even at present through my producer Eric, Beverly, Danyette, Trina, Connie, Lisa, My husband, Charity and there are so many others I could name, Vera, Karen, Pam L., Bobbie, Toni, and the list goes on....

Try something new today.....extend a hand to someone you would never in a million years want to help and you will soon see in time the miracle in that one act of random kindness.

Seek Truth

For the last few days I have been in a quiet place. Less distractions to take my attention away. My search is for truth in all things and not to be stunk in darkness because of my fears of what truth may reveal. My goal is to be changed to daily grow and to embrass it.

This journey of truth is not for the meek and very few people travel this road because of what it demands of you and even more so what it reveals to you.

The words we've heard all my life is ," The truth will set you free". This echos in my spirit and is calling for my attention. At first truth may cut, but once faced , processed, accepted, you begin walking on a narrow path. Each step you take brings more liberation more strength and brings the thing we all long for the most FREEDOM.

" Whoever lives in truth comes to the light so that it may be seen plainly". John 3:21

A New Day

I really am making every effort when I am blessed to open my eyes to see a new day, to see the beauty in it before I get up and begin moving and starting my daily routine.

The beauty of the day really begins as soon as you open your eyes and realize you've been given another chance to make a differents in your life and those around you.

I don't want some life threating illness or some major life altering event to make me realize how important this day that God has given me is.

We are uncertain of what this day holds or if it's even our destiny to be here at the end of it.
The advice that I not just offer you but myself as well is don't take each moment given you for granted. Don't take things that happen in life so seriously...lighten up!! Or you just might miss the blessing in this day altogether.

Try to focus on others and not so much on youself and your discomforters.

Your journey here is so much bigger than you realize.

Enjoy this Tuesday April 15, 2008 !! and all the things it brings!!! You'll never exprience this day again.

Much love, Jessie

Another chapter begins

For the last few days I have been working on putting this blog together. It's been a new venture for me and I'm learning more about computers than I ever thought I would. It's exciting. I love to learn new things. I'm very much looking forward to sharing with you more about the PowerSessions that are held every first Saturday of each month.

For those who have attended the PowerSessions this forum is for you to feel free to continue the dialogue from previous PowerSessions and to connect with others and meet new friends as well as share your own insight. For the ones who have not had a chance to come and share in the PowerSession, this forum is for you to have access to the information we have been blessed to receive that has been life changing for so many.

By the way my name is Jessie Laine Powell the founder of PowerSessions. I am also a professional gospel singer, motivational speaker, mom to Ameka and wife to Art. I look for to our conversations. In the coming days I will be sharing with you the journey God has us on with the PowerSessions and why they are so Powerful. I will also share with you the things that have been going on lately with in recent sessions. Good night for now.
